schooooool

I'm so ashamed for not updating, lol. So, here's a quick entry. Quick, meaning I have to write it in 5 minutes, since I'll most probably be thrown out of the study area during lunch break.

- AC Milan lost!! I felt so sorry for poor Ricky (Kaka' :P). However, our commentator named him Milan's best player. sweeeet.
- I'm going to the play off match Ajax-Feyenoord tonight!! Can't wait honestly, my dad's going to pick me up straight after school.. It's like, the rivals. For a Champions League place. And, Markus can play! (Yay Trace, my band-aid-voodoo thing worked!!)
- I've been sick the past week, and even though the fever is gone, my voice is weird. My throat hurts. And I can't properly talk, so people are giving me weird looks all the time. Hey, I can't help it!
- I finished my Lithuania project/paper/essay thing today! The reason why I'm in the study area and not in math class, lol. Ooh, I'm skipping maths. I'm bad.

This was probably very un-interesting and all, lol. But I got to go now.. Keep your fingers crossed for ajax tonight, will you?!?

To-do List

EDIT: Re-reading this entry, I came to the conclusion I am an unequalled complainer. Please do not read if you can't stand any complaints.

They rejected me!!! *cries* Okay, I already sort of expected it, but their letter was so harsh, and my German teacher was so disappointed in me.. I'm talking about the German scholarship thing. I wanted to go so badly, just to get out of this place next summer for a month or so, and now they rejected me!! Even though I was prepared for this rejection, it hurts. I didn't realize how much I wanted to go.. Until today, that is. Arrrgh. So now I'm forced to spent the entire summer at home, with a dad and brother who are in a constant fight, and a mother who's sort of ignoring me. No, ignoring is the wrong word. She just.. doesn't have time for me. Lots of time for her boyfriend, yes, but time for her own daughter? Nope.

School's killing me.. And so is work. My to-do-list:

- study FOURTEEN tests for next week.
- write TWO English book essays, THREE Dutch ones, and ONE German one.
- write an essay about Lithuania for geography
- write an essay about 'the Last Emperor' for history
- write an essay about the influence of interest on the inflation level for economics
- write an essay about planets and their moons for science
- prepare a Dutch speech about a 'social question'
- prepare a warming up for PE
- talk to the head of my department about my after-school plans
- fill in and hand in some stuff for my bank account
- try to do my THREE different jobs as good as possible
- painting and arranging my new room
- packing my books/clothes/other stuff
..... probably some more things. I forgot.

I better get started. Chau chau.

Ohhhh, I forgot. I hugged Markus and Klaas Jan! Sort of, lol. Didn't expect it, but I was so happy. Weird, how a dull friday can turn into an exciting trip with some class mates! :P They're my lights in the darkness, or how do you say that. So freaking adorable and kjoet in real life!!! And so soft. Hahahahahaha. Don't ask me the details, it was pretty, um, embarrasing. For a change. But, I half-hugged them!! ;P

I love Amsterdam

Might be hard to believe me, but I'm so bored.. While there are so many things I have to do! I can spend this time writing one of my essays, reading one of my language books, studying for the testweek, pack my books and all.. But I'm doing nothing. Feels good. Should do it more often.

Amsterdam was great! I didn't go to school in the morning (shame on me :P) but decided to go there early. The trip was awesome (train, ferry, tram, subway, bus) and Amsterdam was even better! Spent quite some time just hanging out.. Plus, some Italian tourists asked me the way, and I actually knew it! That was so cool, lol. (Let's just forget that het Leidseplein the most famous spot is..) The selection committee however wasn't nice, at all! I felt as if I was in front of the Pop Idol jury, they just snapped at us. Ah well, I don't care.. Amsterdam was great, I just love that city!

Speaking about Amsterdam, Ajax lost yesterday.... Okay, I already sort of expected it, 2-2 in the homematch isn't exactly a great result for the return match, but still. Inter Milan was better, we just lacked experience (our avarage age was 20,5! ack!) and we missed so many players, like Sneijder, Galasek, Emanuelson.. I don't even care about it, soccer was put back in his context yesterday after the little daughter of Schreuder died.. Schreuder's playing for our rivals, but it's so horrible, and I feel so sorry for him and his family! The poor girl was only 6, and suffering a brain tumour. Children shouldn't die. Life's unfair.. R.I.P. Anouk Schreuder.. :(

Busy for testweek

Hey I'm alive. (only just.)

Australia was so awesome, really! I love Sydney, especially at night, and everything was just amazing! Cuddled koalas, fed kangaroos, went surfing, visited Olympic Park, walked through the rain forest, swam inbetween the sharks, got lost by taking the wrong train, shopped a lot in Sydney, spent quite some days on the beach, watched AFL matches, got trapped in an elevator with two guys from the Super-14 rugby team 'the Sharks'.. The people are so relaxed! Everybody was like 'no worries, mate', and I simply love that attitude! The only bad thing was the flight, 24 hours is too long. I think we spent about 37 hours just travelling: to the airport, waiting, flight, waiting, flight, waiting, going home. Airplanes aren't that comfortable either, my knee hurts and I didn't sleep at all, so I was so tired when I got home. Plus, the evil evil jetlag. Anyway, had a great time.

Unfortunately, I'm back. Don't get me wrong, I did actually like going back, but it's more school that's bothering me. I have a testweek coming up in TWO weeks, and I have THIRTEEN tests. Haven't learned any of them. Have to hand in FOUR papers, TWO essays and THREE bookreports (including a paper about Lithuania. I mean, wtf?!). And next Monday, I have to go to Amsterdam by myself for the German solarship-selection-thing. I haven't practised my German! Arrrgh. As you probably noticed, I'm stressed out. Put the moving on top of all my schoolwork, and you'll understand why I'm close to a nervous breakdown. Things will be better in three weeks: I'll be settled in the new house, and I'll be done with the tests and everything for some time. YAY.

Just to let you know how bad it is: I'm not sure about going to Ajax-PSV tomorrow, even though we have tickets. I want to go so badly.. But school.. grmbl. I think I'll go anyway, Ajax is the only thing keeping me sane right now. I'm really addicted, and I'm counting the days until next wednesday.. Ajax - Inter! The return match, a week after the other ties (AC MILAN WON! KAKA SCORED! PSV LOST 4-0 YAY!) and they have to win. They HAVE to! I'm quite confident in fact, they're doing so well lately! They won 6-0 TWICE, (when I was in Australia ofcourse) and they're playing quite good. And Markus is first in the Man of the Season election, so excited! So, they're playing PSV tomorrow, the rivals. Will be a nice match..

I'll quit the soccer stuff now, and study for a bit. Just wanted to let you know I'm still here, and won't be online the coming few weeks. Je suis tres desolee.

OMG just realized I forgot something rofl. I met Trrracle! She's such a sweetheart, and we watched some things she taped in Sydney, really kjoet lol. Her mother's very nice, too! Oh, Trace, the photo is verrry nice, I'll post it next time :P. Will you believe I was in some kind of shock after I left? I felt so weird about meeting you, lol. Only realized it in the car back home.. :P

'His opponent in the second round is Iewjoor Andrijvie!' - presenter sportsjournal

Testweek finished, yay! And, as our head of department said, 'all of you are halfway through the 5th grade now!' Such a shame his familiar 'so I want to speak all of you next week about your grades' followed right after. These little meetings are awful, he talks about every test, every subject, every teacher.. And I'm not too sure I did well. Meaning, him pretending to be sad: 'No Sharai dear, I'm not angry. Only very disappointed.' How I hate that sentence.

Actually, this testweek was really nice (apart from the tests, eh.). Every day we had to wait quite some hours inbetween the tests, and I got to know some classmates better. For example, now I know there's another girl adoring Ajax in the other VWO class, so we spent quite some time chatting about Rosenberg, Huntelaar and the others. The big tv screen in the relaxing area was also working, which was really cool: everytime there's a big sporting event, we can watch it. And this week they decided to put on ES, so we could watch the tennis! The best day was tuesday I think, we were watching Bambi play and I got some girls to support him as well, so we were 'Come oooon'-ing all the time. The same happened yesterday when they were showing some of Dutchie Sluiter's match vs Igor. In favour of Raemon, obviously, even though we knew the result lol.

Ajax sold Julien Escude!!! Not amused. Oh well, we still have Rosenberg and Huntelaar. Rosenberg was elected second best player of Ajax during the first half of the season, really nice. (Wesley Sneijder was first, obviously.) Such a shame they're only 9th or so in the league, they won't even make the play offs if they continue this way! AC Milan is also crap lately, and they're accusing Kaka of arrogance!!! Excuse me, Italians acusing someone else of arrogance. That's so not right. He was substitute last match, I felt so sorry for him. He looked really sad and lost.

Ice skating! Oh my, the European Championships in Hamar last weekend was a mess for the Dutchies. Speedskating, eh. Bob de Jong decided it would be a nice idea to run over teammate Jochem Uythehaage, Mark Tuiters tripped over a chair and injured his back, and Sven Kramer (my fave..) was having troubles with his skating suit.. On top of that, the icemachine broke down, so the track thawed. Which led to funny jokes of our silly commentators: 'We just heard Pieter v/d Hoogenback (swimmer) won the 1500 m. in Hamar!' Haha. Okay, I laughed, but it was so silly. The same commentator was having troubles pronouncing the name of Raemon Sluiter's opponent in the 2nd round: 'Iewjoor Andrijvie' WTF? It took me a while to figure out they meant poor Igor, rofl.

There are radio commercials with the Dutch players telling me to buy tickets for the Davis Cup match vs Russia. 'Help us to beat them!' I want to go so badly! Going to kill the person who picked Amsterdam.

Argh, my ipod is having a will of its own, and I can't call/be called/text/be texted with my phone. Argh.

EDIT: Huh, I would swear there was another entry? Where on earth did it go? Anyway, just found the cover of the new Sport International => Dutch sports magazine.

'I think we have the wrong names... Ohh wait, it really is Haas! With a new haircut..' (commentator)

Why did no one ever tell me how hawt Tommy Haas actually is?!?! OmG sOoOw KjOeT!!1!!1!! I think I found myself a new favorite. (To drool over, that is.) He looks so different and so nice with short hair. I love him, and his hair. It's darker, it accentuates his handsome face and his pretty dark eyes. Droooool. And, he speaks German, so he might be one of the few faves I have I can actually talk with, without having the troubles I'm having in English. This is not the girly Tommy, this is cute Tommy. Replaced, I swear. Looks so different. Oh drool.

Uhm, as some of you might know, my testweek is coming up (one week and a few days). So, life's all about studying, again. Therefore, you might not see me online for the coming, say, two weeks.. Je suis desolee.. Trace, have fun in Sydney with your Radek stalking (and try to fetch Tommy's autograph as well, in case he's coming ;)). Sam, Cambridge people are bastards. St Andrews is much better anyway, believe me. Cambridge.. *mutters* They only have nice taxidrivers and yummy chocolate, the rest is crap. Miss you all.

ps: Eurosport is actually showing ATP tennis => reason why I became a Tommy fangirl, lol. He's losing the semis, against Nose. Grmbl. Auf gehts, Tommmmmyyyy!
ps: Mm, Tommy lost, and there's a guy I really really don't recognise playing the other semis vs Monfils now. Weeeeird. He's very cute! This year is starting very well, two new faves in an hour time. Not bad! Have to find out who he is now.. :P

'Please don't throw any bombs, fireworks or babys on the field,' (stadium announcer)

Ajax was SO awesome and SO cold, lol! Honestly, the ArenA is such a pretty stadium, really impressive! The atmosphere, the people, everything was just great. I was shaking all over when hearing about 40.000 people wholeheartedly supporting their team, singing along with Andre Hazes' songs, cheering loudly after scoring a goal.. So impressive! Whoever might be so stupid (:P) to visit me some day, must go with me to a match. Period.

Anyways, let's start from the beginning. I left for Amsterdam around 14:45, together with my dad and Redmar. It was busy, lots of traffic, and it had been snowing, so everything was pretty white. Around 16:30, we reached Amsterdam, and I saw the ArenA (Ajax stadium) for the very first time. Really impressive, so huge and so pretty from the outside! Of course, we were too early (match started at 20:15), so we were walking around the stadium, visiting the training complex, etc. It was already pretty cold, -2 degrees I think, and with a very cold wind. We went for dinner, and left the restaurant around 18:15. It was warm in the restaurant, so when we came out, it was SO COLD. Honestly, no fun. And it was snowing again.. After waiting for like 20 minutes at the gates, we were allowed to enter the stands. Our seats were on the first row, so we had an excellent view. After spending one hour and a half just taking pictures, admiring the stadium and cheering on the players while they were doing their warming up, the match started.

In the 7th minute my darling Markus Rosenberg scored, woot! Nice goal, and everybody went wild, chanting his name.. That was a great moment, he was so happy. Later in the first half, Charisteas scored twice (once after a very pretty assist of Markus!) and we lead 3-0! It was getting colder and colder though, everyone was jumping and singing just to stay warm. I felt as if my toes and fingers were freezing off, but I didn't really care.. The second half wasn't as good as the first half, kinda boring in fact, and after Markus got a substitute in the 80th minute (he got a loud ovation, everyone was chanting his name and clapping.. :)) our attack was weak. Groningen (the opponent) managed to score twice, so the last few minutes were nerve wracking! They made it though, and my dad and me decided to buy tickets for the next home match straight away! (15 January I think!) Woot. I was so happy, but couldn't stop shaking in the end.. Cooooold :P

Our stadium (Amsterdam ArenA) at night. The photo is dark, was much more prettier in real.

Inside of the stadium, still empty.

Another photo of the field :P

On request, my brother Redmar in the stadium!

Weird photo :P A very cold Shaar in the stadium.

Our goalkeepers Maarten Stekelenburg and Hans Vonk during their warming up.

Goalkeepers, again.

Warming up: from left to right Nigel de Jong - Juanfran - Nourdin Boukhari - Hatem Trabelsi - Tomas Galasek

Warming up: from left to right Markus Rosenberg (OMG :P) - Mauro Rosales - Yannis Anastasiou - Nigel de Jong

Shaky and unclear photo of my beloved Markus, together with Rosales

Stretching, Markus standing at the left

More stretching (and more Markus..)

Markus, with the TV interviews in the background (the light) and the referee *snickers* in front

Slightly better photo of the warming up.. Very unclear, stupid boy was standing at the other side of the field, argh. I was shaking and made a photo of the referee.. By accident, I swear!

The referee again, doing a nice dance to entertain us. *snickers* No, I'm not obsessed with referees.

I apologise to everybody not liking soccer.. (like, everyone except for Sam :P) My next entry will be a more decent one, I promise.

I survived the snowboarding :). It was very nice, even though a stupid guy who couldn't board at ALL decided it would be a good idea to board off the piste, towards the place where I was releasing my board. And yes, because he didn't learn how to steer or brake yet, he crashed into me. My knee hurts terribly now, and is a mix between blue/red/purple and very swollen, #$%^%&$%#%@#%@%#@^!!. Having troubles walking.. But, it was fun, I think there's a picture of me. Somewhere.

Still didn't get the Christmas cards (will be Easter cards by now) out. Sorry Trace, Mandz, Noemi, Beth and Linze, had no time.. You'll get them anyway, don't worry. Maybe next week. What's more. Nothing, I guess. Have to go to work now.

(Ohh, my school allowed me to miss two weeks in February due to Australia. Nice of them, didn't expect it to be honest.)

Jealous at Trace. Bambi's going to Sydney. Grr. (Have fun though hun, and don't forget to develop your photo's this time!)

'Let's pretend we are in Prehistory with the candles! Let's hunt mammoths!' (Laurens)

I hate Christmas, such a busy period.. This week I've been in school 7.30/17:30 almost every day, working until 20:30, babysitting (new job, woot. or not.) until 10 or 11 or so. Argh. Christmas Gala yesterday, great fun, went for dinner with my class first. Only, it lasted till 5, and I had to be at school again 2,5 hours later.. The electricity failed halfway, so we were just sitting there with candlelight and people singing. Cute. But I'm oh-so-tired now, and it's sports day tomorrow: I FINALLY GET TO SNOWBOARD AGAIN YAY! Has been quite a while, 2 months I think. It's in the Hague though, so I have to be at school in 5 hours. Arrrgh, I'm lacking sleep, and so freaking tired. Snowboarding is awesome though :) Anyone of you ever done it? If not, do it. Fantastic. I'll try to get some photos of me snowboarding, lol.

(this was such an incoherant entry. I think you notice my washed-out ness? :P)

'I know my name. Oh wait, I just forgot.' (Sylvie Meis)

For Trace:
Kaká, real name Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, (born April 22, 1982 in Brasília) is a Brazilian football player who currently plays for A.C. Milan in the Italian Serie A. He wears the number 22 shirt for the club.

He got his nickname "Kaká" because his little brother Rodrigo could not pronounce the word Ricardo when they were young. Rodrigo called his older brother "Caca" which Ricardo later changed to "Kaká".

He made his debut at São Paulo FC in 2001 while he was only 19 years old. He scored 12 goals in 27 appearances and a further 10 goals in 22 appearances the following season. He attracted attention from European clubs and it was Milan who won the race to sign him.

Kaká joined Milan in 2003 for an €8.5 million fee, his first appearance coming in a match at Ancona, which Milan won 2-0. In all, he scored 10 goals in 30 appearances that season, winning the Italian Serie A Championship and the European Super Cup.

He was an integral part of the team in 2004/2005, usually playing in a withdrawn role behind striker Andriy Shevchenko in a five man midfield. He scored seven goals in 36 league appearances, winning the Italian Super Cup. However, the team failed domestically, losing the Serie A title to Juventus, and losing the UEFA Champions League final to Liverpool on penalty kicks.

Making his international debut in January 2002 against Bolivia, he was in Brazil's squad at the 2002 World Cup, but did not see much action as Brazil took the World Championship. He played just 19 minutes of a first round match against Costa Rica. Later, he was also in action at the 2004 Copa América and the 2005 Confederations Cup, which were both won by Brazil. The Confederation Cup final won by Brazil over Argentina saw him scoring for the Seleção. More recently, he has helped Brazil qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Kaká has matured as a player and is currently considered one of the best Brazilian footballers.

His greatest goal is considered to be the one he scored against Fenerbahçe SK in AC Milan's first game in the 2005/2006 Champions League; won 3-1 by the Rossoneri. Kakà started his run from midfield and skipped past three tackles before entering the area and finishing with a low shot under the goal-keeper.In 2004, Kaká was joint 10th in FIFA World Player of the Year award, and seems on target to better this in the 2005 awards, as he was voted the best midfielder in the UEFA Champions League tournament of 2004/2005. He ended up 9th on the 2005 Golden Ball (European football player of the year) standing earning 19 votes.

His younger brother Rodrigo (Rodrigo Izecson Dos Santos Leite - known as "Digão") followed in his footsteps and is currently on loan to Serie B team Rimini, after having spent some time in the AC Milan youth squad.

When AC Milan won the Serie A title in 2004, "Ricky" (as he is called by his team-mates) sported a shirt with an "I Belong to Jesus" slogan. This is because Ricky risked his life by badly jumping off a diving-board which caused him the fracture of a vertebra. This could have meant the end of his football career but he believes Jesus allowed him to recover and become the star footballer he now is. For this reason, every time he scores he points his fingers to the sky as a sign of thanks.

The nickname Kaká is pronounced as it is spelled (in his native Portuguese). The accent would signify that the stress is on the second syllable. In Italian, the language of his current team, the phonetic equivalent is written Kakà, which is used for Italian television graphics. However, the player's shirt name is spelt KAKA' (with an apostrophe, rather than an accented 'A'), for both Brazil and Milan.

'Please confirm you are a human below' (stupid livejournal)

Please confirm you are a human below.
WTF Livejournal? Are you doubting I'm a human? *insulted*. I've never ever seen this warning/sentence/whatever before, and now it just seems to appear every time I want to log in! Craziness. *shakes head*

Everybody reading this, your Christmas cards will be late. Probably even January. I'm busy, and only finished half of the cards - of people I don't really know. So, Linze, Trace, Mandz, Noemini, and some more: don't hold your breath for it, lol. Speaking about Christmas, it was Christmas Market yesterday evening! Always fun, but it was so cold and windy now.. Huge fires kept me warm though, and there were some kind of choirs, really nice.

OHH! MY DAD BOUGHT TICKETS FOR AJAX - GRONINGEN ON 27TH OF DECEMBER!!! He made us member of the club, so you can buy tickets and stuff, and their so so so good! It's like, first row! Only a few meters away from the field! YAY! I'm so excited, and gonna take lots and lots of pictures (of Markus, that is.) Click , it's the stadium. Our seats are somewhere inbetween 019 and 020. NICE! :P

Lastly, this week was very tiring, but not exciting or so. I had some kind of lecture/training for three days, which was fun. Yesterday, the teacher made some photos, and they aren't that bad. Just go to the sites, I'm having troubles putting them up here.. http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=krijgtnetsmsjevantracey0ov.png http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4564/tijdenspgocursusmetliezerik2dd.png http://img391.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sharaiweertrainingmetgroep4mk.png The first one is weird, I'm not always sitting like that, but I just received a text.. Was scared, lol. The second one is me and some friends working, the last one is the group photo after we passed the training.. I think you know who I am?

Have to write some more cards now..

'I want to be Harry Potter. Avada Kedavra to the canteen lady!' (Lianne)

Julia is annoying lately, I'm too lazy to write down what happened once again, so I'll just copy paste the convo I had with Trace.

Trace: what did poor, sweet, cute julia do??
Shaar: poor, sweet, cute julia wanted to have a shit
Shaar: she walked towards the cat's box and sat down
Shaar: when she was finished, she suddenly noticed..
Shaar: there was a huge turd stuck to her arse
Shaar: so, she started running around like a maniac
Shaar: -the turd following her everywhere-
Trace: rofl
Trace: rofl
Trace: hahahahahahhahahahahahah
Trace: then she sat on your bed?
Shaar: and ran through the entire house, including the stairs and my room
Shaar: I was like 'Julia, calm down, what's wrong?'
Shaar: suddenly, I smelt something very, very weird
Shaar: I jumped out of bed, and felt a delicious hot 'something' under my feet
Trace: .....
Trace: ROFL
Trace: ROFL
Shaar: I noticed there were skid marks through the entire house
Trace: awwwwwwwww
Trace: bad julia
Trace: *giggles*
Trace: poor shaaarieee
Shaar: so after cleaning my feet, I cleaned everything
Shaar: it took me.. almost 2 hours, and it was 1.30 when it happened!
Shaar: the smell! the gross-ness!!
Shaar: and annoying Julia just sat there, watching, as if nothing happened
Shaar: oh, I forgot the best part
Shaar: the turd was still stuck to her arse, so I had to take some toiletpaper
Shaar: and pull it out. it was connected with a huge 'rope' of shit
Trace: ewwwwwwwww
Trace: seeeeeedy!
Shaar: so I just pulled a huge turd out of Julia :S
Shaar: nice, eh
Trace: yucky, lol
Trace: poor shaar
Shaar: I still find it a miracle nobody heard me. I was cleaning, muttering at Julia..
Trace: (but it's still sorta funny)
And, I got my report yesterday! I'm very happy with it to be honest, so happy that I decided not to retake any tests today, so I was freee!

My list:
Dutch language & literature 9,7
English language & literature 9,9
German language & literature 9,4
French language & literature 9,3
Latin language & culture 8,7
Greek language & culture 9,2
geography and topography 9,1
history 9,3
economics 8,9
social studies 9,4
art studies 9,1
sports 8,2
mathematics 6,1

My cousin bought me the Dutch version of Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince, called Harry Potter en de Halfbloed Prins. I like him, and I like the book, even though the English one is way better. I still didn't watch Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire, no time to go to the cinema.. Besides, no one wants to go with me. *sigh* Harry Potter haters. I'm angry at Ajax, AC Milan and Madrid, how on earth is it possible that my three fave teams seems to lose all their matches lately? And, all of them are low in the rankings.. Ce n'est pas bien. Rosenberg (Ajax striker, hawt) and Kaka (you know him) played very well even though they lost.

The Worldcup draw is still the talk of the day over here, everybody's just cursing at Germany for the bad draw for us, and the very good draw for Germany. Hahah, kinda funny actually! Well, I'm supposed to be studying for the upcoming testweek (one month away..) and finishing writing my christmas cards! I've only written 4 of the 14 so far, for people I don't really know from the CCI project, and these are already huge essays, so all of you can expect a gigantic letter! Don't know whether I'll be able to get them out this week, seeing as I'm not very productive, but I'll try.

Mr. Van Gessel, my German teacher, chose me for the international program in Germany this year! Every year, 19 Dutch students are allowed to go to Germany for 3 or 4 weeks, for free. In the summer holidays though. 14 students will go to a host family in Brandenburg, in the south-east, and visit the same school as the host family's child. That one is for three weeks, but the other one (4 weeks!) sounds more interesting to me. Four students are allowed to go to Dortmund, where the international program will start. Every student gets a group with students from all over the world, and first they'll travel by train through the south for one week, then they'll stay in a host family in a German city for two weeks, and the last week they'll visit Munchen, Berlin, etc.

I really hope I'll get in! I have to write a letter (in German) first, and a committee will pick 50 students. These have to go to Amsterdam, and have a chat with someone. After that, the 19 representatives will be chosen. It'll be very hard to get in, seeing as there are over 250 candidates, but I'll try. Speaking about holidays, Australia is only two months away! Can't wait, even though my school still has to give permission.. It will work out, my head of department isn't a trouble maker. Blahblah. This entry reminds me of my Christmas cards.. Just random and useless chattering. Anyway, I'll stop it now, since Julia's attacking my Christmas tree.

'Does Germany belong to the USA? Or is the computer messing up?' (Another funny commentator)

First of all, thank you for your sweet comments! I love you girls :). Hmm, I didn't update this entire week, so let's see.. Monday was quite cool, it was 'Sinterklaas' day (ask me if you want to know what it is :P) so there were Zwarte Pieten running through the school, disturbing all the lessons, annoying the teachers, throwing candy and pepernoten (cookies shaped like nuts).. Nice, lol. During the breaks, the canteens were closed, so the corridors were extremely crowded. And yes, the Zwarte Pieten were throwing candy all over the place, everybody was throwing back.. Ack, dangerous, but fun nonetheless.

I made some Christmas cards, bought / made pressies.. *thinks* Further, this week was pretty boring. Oh, except for yesterday. World Cup draw, woot. I loved Johan's face while grabbing the balls (no weird thoughts puhlease!) but I don't like our draw, grmbl. (Yes Sam, I strongly dislike it! Lucky England. Pfff.) Argentina, Cote d'Ivoire and Serbia & Montenegro. We'll make it though, we have Marco. Hah. It was a tad disappointing, I hoped for a Netherlands/Australia/Korea/Trinidad & Tobego group, 4 Dutch coaches!

Saaam, (and everyone else but I'm afraid no one else watched it) didn't you just adore the cheering when the Netherlands was drawn? Hahahaha, and the look of that guy towards Cruijff - 'Yes, it is the Netherlands!' Just gotta love the German/Dutch rivalry.

(for Tracey: WC draw means World Cup draw (soccer) and surely not Wildchild draw. OK?)

No

I feel not good.. Why is life so hard? And, why are divorces in general so hard? I don't get it. I JUST DON'T GET IT. Okay, you probably don't get it, so I'll explain. My mum moved out of the house, last week I guess, after a big fight with my dad. Ended up that he sortof threw her out of the house, didn't let her in, she almost called the police, etc etc. Well, she's living with her bf now, so I hardly see her. That's already depressing, since I love her very much. Seeing her trying to sneak in to get some stuff, and my parents fighting about that just breaks my heart, it honestly does.

This night, she came to visit me at my work. I was very happy, I missed her so much. My boss wanted her to take me home, but we decided to go to her new place and talk for a bit. Afterwards, about half an hour ago, she took me home, but I made the stupid mistake of letting her come in with me. Well, my dad was just scared, and they started fighting again, the worst so far I think. My mum went away, crying, and I'm seriously worried about her because her bf is in Denmark and she's all alone. My dad just yelled at me for a second, and started crying afterwards.

Believe me, the worst thing ever is seeing the two persons you love so much fighting all the time, and seeing them broken and sad afterwards. My dad apologised, saying it's not my mistake but that he's just so unhappy and blabla.. It's alright, I understand, but I feel sad about it. I hate seeing them upset, but whatever I do, it just seems to happen. Whenever I visit my mom, or plan to do something with her, my dad gets sad about him losing me, and just comes in my room in the middle of the night, crying and telling me I'm the only reasom he's still alive. I feel bad about going to mum, because of that, but mum gets sad when I don't visit her..

Tell me, what should I do?!? I really don't know. Visit mum and making dad sad, or staying with dad and making mum sad? My heart just breaks whenever I hurt any of them two, and I didn't even start about Redmar.

I vowed that I will never ever get this attached to a man. I know how much love can hurt. Never, I swear.

ps: on top of that, our heating is stuck. I had a cold shower, and we're without warmth while it's freezing outside. grmoeajgdf.

I didn't feel very well tonight, so I went in an online search for funny things. And yes, I found something. You've got to be extremely corny to like it, but whatever. It's fun. *snickers*

Find your birthday month..
January: I partied with
February: I had babies with
March: I felt up
April: I messed around with
May: I peed on
June: I robbed
July: I ate
August: I shot
September: I beat up
October: I dressed up as
November: I got married to
December: I had drunken sex with

Find the day of your birthday...
1: George Bush
2: Michael Jackson
3: some random guy
4: a book
5: Frankenstein
6: Martha Stewart
7: a bottle of Hennesse
8: a flamingo
9: a bag of chips
10: a chair
11: Dick Cheney
12: my English teacher
13: a Teletubby
14: myself
15: a ninja
16: a penguin
17: a pole
18: an apple
19: a box
20: my finger
21: some random girl
22: a cell phone
23: Ron Jeremy
24: a statue
25: a gnome
26: a hippo
27: my shoes
28: a prostitute
29: a porn star
30: my best friend
31: a cat

Find the FIRST letter of your FIRST name...
A: and I threw up
B: for the hell of it
C: and it sucked
D: to be cool
E: to be naked
F: to eat cheese
G: because my mom told me to
H: for my boy friend
I: for my girlfriend
J: to be sexy
K: and it was fun
L: at school
M: and I had twins
N: in the pool
O: for the money
P: and something shrank
Q: and I got sick
R: and then I streaked
S: and it was boring
T: because I was drunk
U: for a shopping spree
V: and I liked it
W: in the dark
X: and I had a sex change
Y: under the sheets
Z: in a laundry mat

ROFL.
'The problem is, when the opponent has got the ball, your team can't score,' (Johan Cruijff)

There is something wrong. I don't know what it is, but I've been feeling so.. weird the last couple of days. Hard to explain what it feels like, it's not even sad or so, no just weird. I'm not the only one, everyone here is a bit restless and busy. Teachers aren't very happy with it, even though they're busy themselves. Just weird. Nothing important, I guess *shrugs*. Might be the weird weather and the flu epidemic.

When I walked to the busstop this morning, the sky was so pretty. All colors, red, yellow, pink, blue.. It was still slightly dark, and there were some stars, and weird shaped clouds. I've never seen something like it before. So pretty. It was very cold though, we had to wait about 80 freaking minutes when returning from PE, because the person who was SUPPOSED to pick us up fell asleep. ARGHHSFGFSG. So we just stood there, the other side of the city, no one there to take us to school. We weren't amused.

Johan Cruijff was on tv yesterday, in some kind of talkshow. He's such a genius, honestly! It's a program where people discuss the news, and there are always some guests who've done something special. Well, Johan was just talking 90% of the time, and his reasoning is just unbelievable. Every single subject, from taxes and Barcelona to traffic queque ('the maximum speed on highways should be increased to 180 km/h, so that people will be off the ways faster') and trees. I adore that guy, lol.

Ohhhh! I got my maths grade back, lol. Actually, it were two, one of level 3 and one of level 4. Level 4 was easy as what, and the grade was very good, but level 3.. It was damn hard, only filled in like 2 of the 20 questions, but I somehow managed to get a 2,7! OK, I'm surprised, but it's still very bad. Like, 5,5 is avarage, so 2,7 is bad. Very bad. I can retake it, so tis alright. :)

I was just wondering, is there someone here interesed in ice skating? *hears the silence* I'm totally fond of it, especially my country man Sven Kramer. He's only 19 years old, but already sweeping all the older skaters off the skating rink. Well, the season started only a few weeks ago, and Sven already skated a new world record on the 5000 meter, WOOT! I was so happy, and so was he! I'm sure he'll do well at the Olympics in a few months! If you don't know him (I don't blame you),

Mmm, Ajax is playing tonight. Champions League, against Sparta Prague I think. Will they continue this fabulous record of more than 700 minutes without scoring a goal? (scored by a player of Ajax and in the right goal) I'm curious. Don't think they will, but aw, I'll have a good laugh. As usual. DANNY BLIND, BRING BACK JULIEN ESCUDE!! I miss him :(

Oh, the bell rings. Have to go to my lesson.

'The last dominoes are falling.. Come on, you can do it, come on dominoes!' (retarded commentator)

Went to Rotterdam today! I haven't been there for ages (OK, 3 weeks) but that might've been because of the exploding cars and such lately. I've got to go there in two weeks all by myself, have to speak to the judge about the divorce and such. I think I saw Dirk Kuyt (soccer player) in the V&D (warehouse), wasn't sure about it. Contemplated asking for an autograph/photo, didn't do it in the end. He's not my fave by any means, so yeah.

Woot, we have a new world record. A very nice one, KNOCKING OVER AS MANY DOMINOES AS POSSIBLE. 'Twas Dominoes Day yesterday, broadcasted on TV and all, and about 4.115.453 dominoes fell. World record. We're weird, lol. My maths teacher is overworked, I'd like to think it is because of my grand *cough cough* grade, so no maths for the coming weeks. No free hours however, school introduced a new 'buddy' subject so that every pupil in the 4th, 5th or 6th grade has to take a 'buddy' in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd. So you have to mentor them, help them with their homework, feed them during the breaks (:P). I happened to get the little son of my economics teacher and my Latin teacher (who are married) and they keep on telling me to pass on my 'excellent working attitude to the boy'. OMG. I'm so overrated.

OK, have to work soon. Argh, the other girl is sick, so it's only me and my boss. Stressssy. Anyways, felt like I couldn't withhold you some photos of Kaka' (for you, Sam :P). His full name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, 23 years old, from Brazil and playing for AC Milan.

Whoops, I went a bit crazy with the photos :P.
'You are very squishy, I shall name you squishy. You shall be my little squishy' (Dory)

Sorry my deers, I had no time to put the photo's in. But, I will do now. Quick update before I go to sleep:

- People are crazy over here *sigh*, but the number of cars-set-on-fire is decreasing, and so is the number of murdered persons. Positive.
- My stupid English teacher decided to stay home today, so my presentation will be held next lesson. Wednesday, I guess. Negative.
- I don't feel very well, lots of people are having the flu lately, they might have infected me.. Got a terrible headache, dizzy, painful eyes and a sore throat. Negative.
- I saw quite a lot policemen today, but for once, they decided to leave me alone and not fine me without any reason to.
'You can divide 10 by 3 other numbers: 5, 2 and sometimes by 3' (Mr. Postema)

Just changed the style of my LJ. Actually, I'm still busy, but I like it so far. This week was slightly boring. Oh, news: our house is sold, and dad also bought a new house. I like it, it's in a seaside resort (that's what the English pamphlet says, at least), so very close to the sea. I love the sea. Yesterday, I didn't feel very well, so I just took the bus to the beach and spent quite a few hours just strolling around.

I got the results from the testweek (except for the math results) and I'm very satisfied so far! It went better than expected, so Shaar = happy *dances*. The student counselor even told me he had very high expectations of me, and recommended me to do IMBAF *faints*. That's like, the most difficult management/economics study EVER. I can't do that. That's only for the highly talented people, and I'm surely not one of them. *shakes head* Silly guy.

BTW, I knocked out the tallest and fattest boy from my class during PE. Okay, he deserved it for being an enourmous jerk, but I still feel slightly guilty. It was like this.. we were freezing to death on the sportfields, playing baseball. I was batsman, and normally I suck in batting, but suddenly I hit the ball so well. With a very high speed the ball collided with Milo's (the boy) head. Umm, sorry. People were running all over the place, some praising, others cursing me. Muhahaha. I didn't do it on purpose, I swear! *angelic face*

Julia's a bit weird lately.. We have a big bowl filled with fake-spiders, I got them from my little cousin. Well, that bowl is on the table in the dinner room. Julia likes to angle all the spiders out of the bowl, taking them in her snout like a dog, carrying them up the stairs and placing them in front of my door. ARGH. She does it all the time. Weird cutie.

Ajax is bad. *kills Ajax for losing against NAC*. Radek is bad, too. *kills Radek for losing the semis*. Berdych is good, but not cute. *kills Berdych for beating Radek*. The head of my department is sweet. *hugs head of department*. Julia's sweet, too. *strangling Juul trying to hug her*. Friends are cool. *hugging friends who're so nice to buy me candy*. And.. yes. My screen is still pink *scratches head*. Surely can't be a good thing? Shazzi's influece, I guess.

RANDOM FACT: THE APOCALYPSE IS NEAR. PIETER IS MARRIED. HE MARRIED YESTERDAY. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND!!!111!!11!!11!! *sad and dead*. Sorry Mandz, no chance of a 'slaap met me vannacht, Pieter'.

'Barbie is a government plot to kill of all the woman!' (Shaar)

Can someone read through my/our Barbie presentation for English and correct it a bit? I'll be forever grateful. K thanks.

-	Introducing to you: Barbie

A little boy walks up the garden path, towards the house of his girlfriend. He nervously rings the bell, and a severe looking man opens the door and says ‘Hello, John. Tracey is in her room.’ John nods, and walks up the stairs. He opens the door of Tracey’s room and immediately realizes something is wrong. Terribly wrong. There are little clothes all over the place, and his girlfriend is sitting on the bed, with two small dolls in her hand. She looks up and greets him: 'Hi John!' John recognizes the dolls. They’re every boy’s worst nightmare: Barbies.

As you probably might have noticed, our presentation is about the typical American phenomenon, which has stayed popular through the years: Barbie. Name me one girl on this entire world who hasn’t owned at least one Barbie doll. Every boy in this class, yes, even you *wijst aan*, has played with it.

Why do two teenage girls like us choose such a childish subject for an English presentation? Well, you know, we were once young too, and we simply enjoyed dressing Barbie, washing Barbie, beheading Barbie... On top of that, we’re curious about the history, about the inventors, etcetera. We’re sure all of you are dying to learn more about the famous Barbie, so we won’t hold you up any longer.

-Barbie gives us a history lesson
*Barbie talking* My full name is “Barbie Millicent Roberts.” I’m from Willows, Wisconsin and went to Willows High School. I have five sisters: Tutti, Skipper, Stacie, Kelly and Krissy. I’m going to tell you something about my history!
Believe it or not, Barbie originally was a real person. Her name was Barbara (Barbie) Handler and her mother and father were Ruth and Elliot. In the early 1950's, Barbie's mother watched her and her girlfriends play with adult female dolls more than they did play the baby dolls. Her mother knew it was just as important for young girls to imagine what it would be like to be grown up.
Since most of the adult dolls available at that time were paper or cardboard, Barbie's mother decided to make a three-dimensional female adult doll. One, that was lifelike enough to serve as an inspiration for little girl's dreams of the future. She took her ideas to the designing team of Mattel Corp, the company that she and Barbie's father had founded in the garage many years before.
The designing team however, which coincidentally only consisted of men, rejected the idea saying it would be too expensive and with little market appeal to the consumers. Later, Mattel finally agreed to back her efforts and Barbie debuted at the American Toy Fair in New York City in 1959. Girls went wild over her and set a new sales record for Mattel. Since then the Barbie Doll's popularity has rarely taken off and today, with over one billion of her look-alikes sold, the product line is one of the most successful in the history of the toy industry.

-	Barbie searching her roots

*Barbie talking* Do you think I always looked like this? The answer is no, ofcourse not! I changed through the years, just as much as all of you changed since you were younger. I’m famous, but a normal girl nonetheless: I like fashion, so it’s patently obvious that I’m changing constantly. But, how much did I change? And how?

As Barbie just told you, she changed through the years, mostly because of the fast changing fashion: Barbie had to adapt herself to the changing needs of people. The first Barbie was 11 ½ inches tall, had blonde hair, red lips and wore a black-and-white swimsuit. Five years later, Barbie's little sister Skipper was born, who differed from her sister.

In 1965 Barbie developed bendable legs. This was handy, since this was also the year that Barbie suits up as Miss Astronaut. Barbie was always ahead of her time since this was years before women are actually accepted into the space program.
Another three years later, Barbie's girlfriend Christie, an African-American doll, was introduced, otherwise little girls might think dark women are less important than white women. In that year, Barbie also spoke for the first time. At the pull of a string, she uttered six phrases, including "I have a date tonight!" and "I love being a fashion model!"
In 1971 Barbie became a hippie, as the peace and love movement swept the nation. A few years later, Barbie proved that it is possible to have it all by becoming an Olympic skier, a gymnast, skater, doctor, surgical nurse, ballerina and a flight attendant. She was also placed in a time capsule, scheduled to be opened in 2076.
In 1980, Mattel took steps to decrease the racism in the USA, by introducing Black Barbie and Hispanic Barbie. "Oriental" Barbie followed the next year. The company also launched its International Collection, beginning with Italian Barbie, Parisian Barbie, and Royal U.K. Barbie. Later that year, Mattel embraced the cowboy chics with Western Barbie.
We take a step in the time, when Barbie joins the U.S. Army in 1989. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps fashions follow over the next three years.
In 1994, Teen Talk Barbie says "Math is hard!" and the doll becomes the flashpoint in a national discussion on girls and education. Five years later, Mattel releases a new line of Generation Girls, including Butterfly Art Barbie, named for the butterfly tattoo on her stomach. Another one of Barbie's new girlfriends got a nose ring.
Barbie made her first appearance on the silver screen in 2001, in a computer animated movie called Barbie in the Nutcracker. Nowadays, Barbie is very popular with Lord of the Rings Gift Set, Wonder Woman, SuperGirl and more Dolls of the World series.
Mattel once introduced pregnant Barbies, which were not very successful as customers complained. It was striking that the stores were pulling Barbie because she was pregnant, but they still sold guns and other weapons.

-	Barbie and her boyfriend

*Barbie talking* Ken.. Ken.. Come here, I want to introduce you.. *pulling Ken* *Ken gives up*. Everybody, meet my boyfriend Ken. The prettiest boy on earth.. Just look at this face, look at these muscles..

After one year, Barbie felt a bit lonely. She missed the company of a man in her life. The little girls playing with Barbie, shared the same feelings: they also wanted a sweet boyfriend for their idol. That’s why in 1960, Ken was born. He had a lot of fuzzy hair, big muscles and a tanned body. Two years later, Barbie decided his hair was a bit too messy, and the inventors agreed with it: Kens hair was being replaced with normal blond or brown paint instead of real hair.

The invention of Ken helped kids to understand relationships and manners. The couple Ken and Barbie were enjoying realistic adventures while children fantasized about adult life. Their seemingly perfect life did not survive without criticism; many saw Barbie as antifeminist who was a victim of a man-oriented society. They saw the introduction of Ken as an indication that women could not stand on their own and had to be constantly supported by men.
But we have very shocking news for you. We only heard it a few days ago: just like J.Lo and Ben, the romance is over for Barbie and Ken. *Barbie and Ken fighting*

After 43 years as one of the world's prettiest pairs, the perfect plastic couple is breaking up. The couple's "business manager," Russell Arons, vice president of marketing at Mattel, said that Barbie and Ken "feel it's time to spend some quality time - apart."

"Like other celebrity couples, their Hollywood romance has come to an end," said Arons, who quickly added that the duo "will remain friends."

-	Barbie and her belongings

*Barbie speaking* As I said before, I’m just a normal girl, crazy about shopping! I think I do it a little too much, my closets are bulging out with clothes, shoes, cars, animals..

Just like normal human beings, Barbie also wanted to have luxury goods. The inventors didn’t disappoint her, and buried her under a large pile of clothes, of famous designers like Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, and many more. She also has more then a billion shoes, she owns a huge car park including a few convertibles, some campers, houses, boats, airplanes, .. Just name something: Barbie owns it!
Barbie does not only have material items, but also a nice amount of animals: the doll has had over 43 pets including 21 dogs, 12 horses, 3 ponies, 6 cats, a parrot, a chimpanzee, a panda, a lion cub, a giraffe and a zebra. Hmm, she can almost start a own zoo!

-	Barbie: a dangerous beauty

*Barbie talking and shaking her ass* Hey, pretty boy! I’m a single girl, want to come with me? You know you can’t refuse me.. I’m the prettiest woman on earth every single man wants to go out with.. *arrogant*

Barbie is not only a doll. She’s also a role model for women, and she’s of a perfect, but also inaccessible beauty. For example, in a perfect world, all men would look like a Hugo Boss model - tall, with a clean-shaven jaw and in a three-piece suit. All women would look like Barbie. From a young age, girls look to television, magazines, books and toys to shape their self-images. Society took a wrong turn when it shaped beauty into the image of a tall blonde with disproportionably large breasts and a waist the size of a skinny 8-year-old.

For more than 50 years, Barbie dolls have been the standard of beauty to which women are told they should aspire. Trying to look like this plastic doll - and "plastic" is the critical word here - has taken a toll on the self-esteem of females in society. As they struggle to achieve Barbie's look, and consequently becoming familiar with crash diets and vomiting over toilets, problems such as anorexia and bulimia become more common. We're inclined to believe that Barbie is really a secret government plot to kill off all the women so that the men will have more food for themselves.

-	Barbie says bye bye!

*Barbie talking* Oh! I’m so sorry, darlings, but I’ve got to go now. It was nice talking to you, but I cannot miss my appointment with the hair dresser!
We hope you learned something about the Barbie, both her innocent part, which only consists of being a toy for little girls, and her more evil side, causing teenage girls to stop eating and dress like whores. If there are any people who would like to share their Barbie experiences we would like to hear them!

No one? By the way, did you know that every second two Barbie dolls are sold somewhere in the world? Well, this presentation is 10 minutes long, so during this presentation, 1200 Barbie dolls have been sold!
*Barbie shirt open: BYEBYE!*
This was our presentation.
